Does it really matter that much?

So what is the real difference between 50Mbps to the home and 100Mbps to the home? Right now not much. Most people who do some moderate web browsing and check their email would not see a difference between a 1Mbps connection and a 100Mbps connection. Even if you play some games online, you really do not need a high connectivity rate, you need a high quality of connection so your ping times to the gaming server are low.
25Mbps would still be adequate if you are downloading streaming videos in HD and playing them on your TV or computers. The higher connectivity rates become important when more and more devices are connected to the Internet. Once you have three or four TV’s all streaming content, two computers surfing the web and your appliances and other devices making calls back to their maker to let them know how they are doing, 50-100Mbps become relevant.
